Golden Retrievers are well loved by many families because of their outstanding qualities - loving, energetic, obedient, and easy to train. You first need to start learning Golden Retriever Care before anything else. A pup is like family so you need to make sure that it’s health is top priority.
Let’s elaborate on the basics of Golden Retriever care:
1. Visit your vet regularly. Be sure to do this regularly. A yearly visit to the vet is already enough. This will give you the opportunity to inquire about everything pertaining to your pup’s health and care that you have been wondering about. To get the most out of your visit, prepare a list of questions beforehand. A good vet will answer your questions in detail, a bad vet doesn’t.
2. A trip to the vet is an excellent time for him to get vaccinated and a de-worming treatment. Your pet will most likely receive 4 types of vaccinations namely: canine parvovirus, canine distemper, rabies and canine adenovirus-2.During the first year, your pet will require vaccination followed by core vaccinations after three years.
3. Never restrain yourself when feeding your pup. Come up with schedule or guide that you can follow when feeding your pup Your pet also needs ample exercise most especially as an adult. Leave the food bowl with food, but don’t fill it to the brim, and leave it there for your pet to eat all day. If you want a special diet for your pup then stick to cooked meats and raw ones. This is usually a good and fit natural diet for your dog. Mixing your dog’s diet with grains and healthy veggies is also okay. Health supplements and vitamins are also great for your dog. When you give them some, try mixing it with pungent food, as this particular breed has talented noses.
4. Golden Retrievers shed hair from time to time so be warned if you have allergies. For grooming, make sure that you clean and brush around their ears to prevent the dog from getting infections. You need to come up with usual bathing schedule for your pup so that it will be comfortable taking baths.
